MEAT AND MEAT PRODUCT: 

Meat are animal’s flesh that is eaten as food which is mainly composed of water, minerals and mostly protein such chickens, sheep, pig, cattle, etc. and usually eaten together with food. While meat product is any processed meat which include bacon, ham, sausages, salami, corned beef, jerky, lunch meat, canned meat etc. or any processed meat that changes fresh meat with simple mechanical processes such as cutting, grinding or mixing etc.


NUTRITIONAL VALUE OF MEAT IN DIET

  • Meat is a valuable source which is highly biological protein, vitamin B12 as well as other vitamin B complex, iron, zinc, phosphorous and selenium, fat content and fatty acid profile.
  • Eating meat or other animal sources may particularly benefit an individual after surgery and recovering athletes. In combination with strength exercise, it also helps to maintain and build the muscle mass properly.
  • Some meat (beef) mostly has an essential nutrient that is very important for blood formation and brain and also nervous system.
  • Meat like beef contain other meat compound such as, creatine and taurine (1) creatine: which are commonly supplements taken by the body builders in order to develop or growth the muscle as well as maintain it (muscle). (2) taurine: is an antioxidant amino acid produced to the body and important to heart and muscle function.
  •  Also beef meat prevent diseases like anemia. But take note excess of meat could lead to heart disease, cancer etc.

Red meat: All livestock is considered e.g. beef, goat, lamb etc.

Poultry meat: These are referred to as white meat which includes chicken, turkey etc.

Seafood meat: This includes fish, as well as crustaceans, crab, lobster etc.

Pork meat: concerned as a pig meat.
